tonight i had a scrapbook night with some friends, i didn't have anything to scrapbook so i made a little picture frame/office thing. i used my new Kaiser paper (AMAZING), i used heidi swapp flower masks and one dollar sticky brads from joanns. i attached the paper to chipboard and used two hinges. finally i have gotten back down there and started making things again. woohoo

i'm tired. yaaaaawwwwwnnnnnnnnnnn

Another Lame Entry

today is the day i am going to buy paint! i'm not going to paint today but i'm going to buy it. woohoo. i decided on the darker green for 1 or 2 walls and the lighter green (on the same chip) for the other walls. and of course i didn't save the color picture, it's still on my camera so just scroll down a little bit if you want to see which colors i'm talking about. i'm also going to be making a couple pillows to go with my brand new bedspread, it will involve, fabric, stuffing, one of those stitching circle things, french knots, lots and lots of thread and a big needle. i probably won't get that stuff today but maybe i will actually....we'll see. i'll take pictures of all that stuff.
i haven't gone downstairs in a week or more to do anything scrapbookieish so there's nothing new there. i have a whole bunch of stuff i got for 40% off at joanns a couple weeks ago that i still haven't used. i'm not very motivated to do that right now. next week i will be visiting a friend and that's all we are going to do for the whole weekend so i will have things after that.
well i am going to make a smoothie and start enjoying my day off (haha slash not enjoying, cleaning, blehhh)
i'm baaaaack....

i don't want "shrek" green

i'm mad right now. that's it. actually i'm really mad. and it's not really it. i am going to post some of those paint chip pictures...they don't really come across too well by just taking a picture of them so it's not exact but you get the idea.
this first one is my favorite and thepicture really doesn't show it well. i would do the green color with white trim.

i really like this green too but it would be too much so i would have to do one or two walls this darker green and the other walls white....i have a thing with white walls...i know there's a place for white walls but i think it's wasted if it's white.

and finally i really like this one, but it's in the blue family and that's what i've had for a long time. it looks better in person and again i would have white trim....or maybe dark wood would look nice like those cabinets. hmmmm

i need some suggestions so if you have any just let me know. i hopefully will get my comforter sometime this week, then i'll have to pick out sheets then paint then i'll have to gut my room. i'll make a photo-log of the whole process probably. if anyone has seen my room (which not many have) you will know that it will take a good portion of the day to take down all my posters and things. that were a failed attempt to cover the denim-blue. gag. so let me know what colors you like. woot woot.

X Stitching

This project is one i did a couple weeks ago and i forgot to take pictures of it until now. it's cross stitching thing. i have never done one before and i'm not sure what i'm going to make it in to. a little girl i babsit drew this picture and i transferred it to this fabric. it was fairly simple and only took a little over an hour i think. the hardest part was threading the stupid thread.

and here is the picture she drew.

soon i will post pictures of paint colors i like for my room i'll just need opinions b/c i like them all.

so i don't feel like it/don't have time right now to post what i wanted to, which was paint chips i picked out last night so i decided i will do that tonight or tomorrow (probably tonight hopefully) so here is a little survey thingymagig i did. lots and lots of typing. i'll lookreally quick and see if i have a picture to post at the end.

10 years ago I was: 10 years old and in 5th grade…I didn’t have a care in the world. I spent my days making paper mache piggy banks, captain crunch “smoothies” (not sure how they got the name smoothie, they weren’t smooth at all) and jawbreaker sandwiches (which consisted of two pieces of *shudder* white bread with a huge jawbreaker in the middle…don’t ask why I thought that was cool)

Things on my to-do list today: Defiantly not jawbreaker sandwiches. I have to finish my taxes, make a poster for Nolan’s baptism, update my picture project, go to work, pick out paint/sheets for my room, do the dishes, fold my laundry, become a millionaire so I don’t have to work anymore….woohooo

4 things I would do if I became a billionaire: buy a new house for everyone in my family, donate to a children’s charity, travel the WHOLE world, pay off my car...or buy a hybrid

3 bad habits: thinking I control the outcome of life with my stupid habits (the list of which would exceed this questions quota), biting my nails, yelling at Canadians when I’m driving (really yelling at anyone who gets in my way :) )

5 jobs I have had: babysitting, cleaning for a family, taking care of shelley, customer service rep, uhhh…babysitting, I did that a lot

6 things people don't know about me:
1. I love Johnny Depp (actually everyone probably does know that)

2. i don't touch doornobs or light switches if i can help it

3. I always have Lysol/hand sanitizer in my purse

4. I buy WAY to many purses and shoes…seriously way too many

5. I want to be on SNL

6. I am really, really cheap.
Well I guess most of those are things everyone already knew but I’m ok with that.

here are a couple pictures my dad took, then i took them and photoshopped them a bit so the big one is after i got my hands on them and the small one is before

4 cards and a comforter

i made these cards a couple days ago and just never took a picture of them until now. they are all pretty much the same card...the only thing different is some of the flowers.

now for the real important stuff...i just bought a new comforter set from Target last night online. here it is...i know some people don't like that pattern, but seriously...i LOVE IT. and i'm going to get some bright sheets, i was thinking pink or turquoise or green. then i'm going to match the paint to match the sheets. i'm so sick of the "blue-denim" look that's been going on since i was 13.

here is that "blue-denim" paint and a couple of the paint chips i really like ,i was thinking doing just one wall with the darker color and and the rest with the lighter....but i don't really know, i think i'll go tonight and look at sheets at L-N-T they have some bright colors. then i'm going to lowes to look at paint chips then i will take it to...dun dun dun...wal-mart. i'm such a cheap person i'll pick the paint chip out elsewhere then take it to the cheapest place to make the paint.i need to get inspired to get out of this funk i seem to have fallen into and this might be just the thing. we'll see.

10minute card.

today my card is very simple. it started out in my head as something completly different, the part that stayed the same was the sewed on patches of paper.....i didn't take the time to do the other part i had planned. i think i am going to do this again when i have more time and do it the way i wanted.

kinda lame.

you may want to be near a pillow, it's LONG

Chandrans Chicken Curry...seriously it owns my LIFE. i am not overreacting. and i am SO generous i have decided to share this information with you. last summer my aunt and uncle and cousins came and visited us and with them they brought the knowledge of an amazing recipe. i'll be honest...when i got home that day from work and my uncle was making it, i was worried because i didn't want to be rude, but i also am really sensitive to new/different foods and the next day i was going on a plane and just didn't want to have my stomach upset. so to make an already long story a little shorter, this food smelled absolutely DELICIOUS so i tried some, then i tried some more and before i knew it, my whole plate was clean and i CRAVED more. i didn't feel one bit sick after eating it, which is rare in and of itself. so i hog-tied my uncle until he gave me the recipe (and by hog-tied i mean politely demanded). and i have made it quite a bit sense. a couple times i've made it have been complete disasters (tracy, you know what i am talking about...hmmmm our 'cheap' chicken) but i've got the hang of it now and can make it in 45 minutes.
Finally, here it is the moment you've probably all held your breath for. dun dun dun...

Prep Time: 15 min. Cook Time: 50 min. Serves: 6
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
2 teaspoons finely chopped ginger
Curry – 4 tsp (very mild)
1 medium tomato, chopped (try canned diced tomatoes)
1/2 cup water
2 pounds boneless chicken, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
Chopped cilantro, for garnish (optional)
Steamed basmati rice, for serving
Cooking Directions1 - In a Dutch oven or enameled cast-iron casserole, heat the oil, then add the onion and cook until nicely browned around the edges, about 7 minutes. 2 - Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute. 3 - Add the curry stir for 1 minute. 4 - Add the salt, tomato and water and cook over medium- low heat, stirring constantly, until the tomato is softened. 5 - Add the chicken and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes. 6 - Add the coconut milk and simmer, partially covered, for another 15 minutes, or until the gravy thickens and the chicken is cooked. 7 - Add the cinnamon and cloves and simmer another minute. 8 - Remove the chicken from the heat and garnish with the cilantro.
Serve with steamed basmati rice.
Yield: 6 servings

ok...whenever i make this, i want it for breakfast the next day....well how about lunch, so i always double it. if i'm going to make the effort, i might as well make it last. so just double everything if you need to, except for the chicken 4 lbs of chicken would be too much i think. tonight i think i used 3lbs...and we have A LOT leftover. seriously we could eat it for the next 3 days. and i'll be honest, i don't like ginger or cloves so i don't put them in, and i use the petite diced canned tomatoes...all who know me know i am an avid protester of tomatoes and onions, but hey. i add more of both to this...who knew. and i always add more of the curry powder and tonight i think i tripled the amounts. i use the jasmin rice to serve it with and you can scoop it up and eat it with naan bread, we use flat bread or pitas or wheat tortillas. or you can just use a fork.
this is the curry, salt and cinnamon.
this little do-dad is amazing. the onions go from this to...
this, in about 10seconds flat. i'm not exactly sure what it's called.

here is the curry that i use. you can get it at cost cutter in the specialty section. it's called madras curry powder...smells SO GOOD.

and finally the finished product. it looks like dog barf...again just like the Moroccan chicken, but it sure does taste good.
well i must bid this post farewell, i am at a very intense part of Misery and i gotta know if Annie Wilkes catches Paul Sheldon out of his room....haha i'm a nerd.
oh p.s. your welcome in advance

miss mary take 2

it's funny when i first got on this "blog bandwagon" i had so much stuff i wanted to post on here and i wanted to post it all at once, but i refrained and only did once a day. now it's hard work posting on here. first i have to to downstairs and get motivated...then i have to actually make something and complete it then drag out my camera and try to get a good picture of it...and finally after who knows how long i get it on here. it's a lot of work. but i do like it i just don't post as much as i probably should. tonight i made a 10 minute digital page for Mary's first birthday. digital scrap booking is WAY more mess afterwards, all my pictures are on my computer so i don't have to print them, i can crop them to any size and i can do all this on my lap. AMAZING. seriously i double dog dare anyone who hasn't tried it to try it. a couple websites are, The Shabby Princess and Two Peas that you can get free downloads. for twopeas, you have to sign up, but it's fast and easy. they have REALLY cute kits and they're perfect if you're just starting out because they cost nothing. so no more rambling here is the page for mary. i'm not too impressed with what i did but it's still a post!

Ta Da! As Promised

i have made a couple things today and am posting them to show my blog some love. this first card was made using my new favorite stamp, which i embossed. it's pretty simple.

next we have a little book i started last night. i have wanted to make one for a while now so i finally got going on it. we have hundreds of scrapbook magazines that just sit on the shelf, a couple weeks ago i got a couple of them out and punched out little butterflies for the little frame i made. but i've wanted to go through and cut out all my favorite layouts/cards/ideas. i've only gone through maybe 15 magazines and i have about 100 ideas! i'm nowhere near done with it, and it's a project that will always be a work in progress. here are a couple pictures of what i have so far.

yay for posting on blogs!
