Craft time!

i bought this book yesterday. prettttty excited for it. i've always wanted to be a sewer and there was a time when i made little dresses, aprons and other random things but i haven't done any sewing for probably almost 2 years!
once this remodel is done, i will be downstairs sewing! i'm so excited. i need to find some real cute fabric on some good sales and start planning what i want to make.

today i think i will be making some of these little guys with shelley. i love them. i bought balloons yesterday and we all know i have a plethora of yarn. and it's almost april fools day i need to come up with some good ideas. i might break out the Hello Cupcake book and make some spaghetti cupcakes or TV dinner cupcakes :). we'll see.

that's all i have for today. too much stuff going on, have several friends in the hospital (having babies, having brain issues?) and lots of stuff i'm trying to do for girls camp. welp have a goooooood day!

Battery Exhausted

that's what my camera just told me...that my battery is exhausted, why is it that i have 4 batteries for that thing and they are always dead? so please excuse the poor photos i had to take them fast before the camera turned off.

i feel like once my life is back on track this is my next project. it's a frame that michelle bought me for christmas made out of rolled up magazines. it can't be that hard to make right? i just think it looks really cool. i'm collecting fun, mismatched frames to decorate one wall. i have 4...
also that barnes and noble gift card in front of the frame...i FOUND IT FINALLY! i got it for christmas from one of the residents parents and i lost it but i just found it on saturday!! phew

i also don't think i ever blogged about this beauty. this was the last photo i could take before my camera pooped out on me so it's terrible but whatever. it's a BIG HUGE BLACK LOVELY FRAME! i plan on punching out that UNG Drill cardboard and using it as a photography prop. excellent! only at Ikea people. i could literally live there. (p.s. the camera used in these photos is NOT i repeat, NOT my "real" camera, it's just a dumb point and shoot...)

and last but not least MORE remodel pics. you're probably tired of them but it's my life right now what can i say?

we did the bar cabinets a dark brown and i love them.

these are the rest of the cabinets (no counters yet boo)...i didn't choose that color...just saying. i like it though. i wish we could PAINT sooon i'm sick of that splotchy yellow wall. i have some amazing colors picked out. hopefully they translate well :\

he started on the floor today! that's pretty exciting. last week he got the fireplace outta there and started framing the wall he's going to put in front of the brick for the flat screen :). can't wait until it's done. i'm so over living downstairs and not having any way of cooking anything except by microwave. although yesterday i did break out the electric skillet to make some indian curry. yum.
alright i have to go figure out how to make puppets...if anyone has any hints on how to make some please let me know. i have no idea!
also please excuse this dumb stuff at the bottom of all my posts i can't get rid of it. that dang HTML class i took last year obviously stuck with me. NOT. i hate HTML just saying.

Quick Cards

i was very productive this weekend, card making wise that is. i pretty much stayed in my PJ's and made lots and lots of cards (about 45ish). here are a few of my favorites might post more later but i always say that and never do so there ya go.

i'm going to post what movie i was watching while making each card b/c when i look at them i think of the movie i was watching at the time haha

sweet home alabama

walk to remember

cutting edge (LAME not my choice)

defiantly maybe....i think? i made several of these so i can't remember too well, maybe this one was during the olympics.
walk to remember
mean girls ;)
cutting edge (i did a lot during that movie i'm not a fan)
cutting edge again
and last but not least a walk to remember.
that was strange haha sorry about that.
p.s. i just found a new background site so i'll be having background ADD again for awhile :) go here if you want to see them.
p.p.s. still trying to figure out how to get rid of these dumb icons at the bottom of my posts so just ignore them. dumb things.

heeeedbands

last week i decided to make my own headbands so i went and bought a few things then started making them. i've decided i cannot pull them off, at all. i look like a loony toon to illustrate that point:

the pic. i took with my phone to send to michelle so she could tell me if i look dumb, she never replied so i take that as a yes. haha

please ignore the bags under my eyes that have their own bags and my crazy bang situation.
i just feel this one makes me look like i have a growth on my head. here is another headband and another pic of the same yellow one:

what i did was found those cheaper little girl fabric headbands at walmart for a few dollars then i glued some ribbon on top. the red one is actually a little girls scrunchy i found in a pack again at walmart. i was going to sew it together to make a little ball type thing. then i decided to just wrap the scrunchy around the headband 3 times so i didn't have to sew anything. the yellow one is from a bunch of flowers i got at michaels and the white leaves are also from some fake plant at michaels that i took apart and layered together.
i feel like if i had better hair i might be able to pull them off a little better but maybe not. if my hair had the ability to curl AT ALL it might help hide the bulkiness of them. anyways maybe i'll try again with some smaller objects. but probably not this week. i have a baby shower on sat. for a friend that i'm planning and my gpa was in the hospital all last week (hence the eye bags) so i might go visit him some more.
here is another project i'm working on:
i don't usually like going to walmart but i was there anyways for shelley and i found a $3 shirt so i'll be re-purposing it for something else. if i ever finish i'll post pictures.

Kahards

So my friend is having a baby pretty soon (well march-ish) so i am helping plan a shower for her. i am in charge of food and invites and our other friend is in charge of decorations games. we decided last night that we are going to have the shower next month so i have to get the invites done! here's what i came up with:

their nursery is pink and green, the colors don't show up very well on here though.

i used my new slice and stamp sets to make these. pretty exciting. it's also the layout for the christmas cards i still have to get done :D. i'm still trying to decide what to have on the outside scallop, the word shower is redundant but i don't know what else to put...?! anyways probably won't blog much more this month, too much going on but i'm officially done shopping and wrapping!!!!!!!!!!! so glad i don't have to go near the mall or walmart for the next month!

Playing Ketchup

Well, it's Thanksgiving...I'm not exactly sure where this month went but apparently it's gone. I haven't updated at all this month I guess I was busy?! I honestly am trying to remember what happened this month b/c I have no idea where it went.
Anyways a quick update:
*I have been on the Prism diet it will be 6 weeks on monday, that means 6 weeks without flour or sugar. There is not much to eat when you take those two things away. ahhhh i will be able to add potatoes and whole wheat flour on Monday, I'm excited!
*I will be waking up..actually not going to sleep tonight to go get some good deals hopefully early tomorrow morning, we are planning on being at Old Navy at 3am yikes.
*I started writing a "book" i have 61 pages done so far. it's going to be epic....well
*I've done several family photo sessions and i'm working on editing them. Also got my Moo business cards, sooooo cool. They are mini photos that i have taken with my info on the back.
*A few weeks ago I went to a scrapbooking retreat with my mom in Cle Elum, we stayed at a really nice resort called Suncadia. Next year they are having it at the same place so I have to decided if I'm going or not...hmmm
Here are some projects I worked on while I was there. I'm surprised I got anything done all i wanted to do was sleeeeeep the whole time. I had been pretty sick the week before leaving. (H1N1??!....just kidding...maybe)

OK on to the projects:

a little mini book that folds out into this:

pretty cool eh?

i made a bunch of these scrabble tile necklace pendants, I love them!

one of my major projects was to get a bunch of these magnets made...i probably got 50 done. these are a few of my favorites:

and all of them:

another major project i worked on was my Disneyland ATC scrapbook. It's not traditional b/c it's a round about type thing.

i got quite a few pages done but i have about 150 pictures left. it will be a year in may so i'm a little behind.
these are some recipe holders i made...well covered with paper while i was there. they are magnetic so you use the hand dandy magnets i made to hold the recipe.
and last but not least is the blanket i started a few weeks ago. I haven't been able to work on it as much as I want b/c my wrist clicks when i crochet. maybe i'll knit for awhile until my wrist stops hurting.
i took pictures at the resort I just don't have a card reader for that cameras card on my laptop and I'm too lazy to transfer them right now, maybe i'll update them another time, probably not though. :)
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Last Weekend:

i went to tracy's house this last weekend to scrapbook/relax/watch lots of movies. i'm happy to say i was a little productive...at least one of the days we were there. here are some pictures of what i did:

my crocheted baby blanket that will have a scalloped edge when i'm all done. it's not too bad for my first ever crocheted ANYTHING, ever. the colors don't really show well on here but i don't like that they are a little splotchy..oh well. i already have my next colors picked out and it will be a dozy.

the last day we were there my mom had like 3598725987 scraps from a scrapbook she made so i used her scraps to make some cards. these pics. really are not good, i had to use my brothers camera and i'm not too impressed...

this photo has nothing at all to do with my weekend but it's a shirt that i bought from threadless last week that just came in the mail today. i love weird shirts like this.
anyways also today i started a "wellness challenge" i'm calling it that b/c diet is a bad word in my mind and i'm trying to be well in all areas not just physically. if that makes sense. for example i am doing the prism food plan (haha i didn't say diet:)), exercising everyday, drinking at least 8 8oz. of water a day but at the rate i'm going i'll drink more than that probably. reading scriptures for 20-30 min. a day...this one is hard just b/c it requires a solid block of time. eventually i am going to purge my room and my car and get them clean once and for all. i also will be organizing my school stuff and making a schedule and sticking to it. we'll see how it goes! wish me luck.

My Name is Amanda...

...and I am a craft-a-holic. (or my dad would probably say a crap-a-holic). I have issues. mostly involving paper, yarn, fabric, eyelets, etc...
allow me to explain:

paper tower...not even close to all the paper in this room. there is more under the desks but I chose not to photograph it.
one of the embellishment/stamp bookcases....ONE of them. this room used to be a 2nd kitchen but we ripped out some appliances to make room for all our junk...stuff. those brown cupboards to the right have more craft stuff and my darkroom equipment.

another embellishment/stamp/random things bookcase, there is another side to this but it mostly has books and movies.

this you can't really tell from the photo but it's stacked as high as a bookcase and that thing on the left is from Mervyns store when they closed. and those bins have most of the yarn/fabric. we only have 8 of those filled....

here is the stamp ink center as well as random tools and another accessory holder....we DON'T have a problem...
paint/ribbon/glue center. WAY more ribbon where that came from. i have to have some dignity left.
here's the visitor's table where people can work if they come over but I seem to have commandeered it since my table is currently like the rest of my life and a HUGE MESS. what can I say I "love" chaos.

here is the movie/ipod/more ribbon/foam stamp window sill. you have to be entertained while you work.

and last but not least, i promise i DO use some of this crap...i mean stuff.
My name is Amanda, and I need HELP.

Hair Flowers

i've been so busy lately. i just started a new job, job number 3, so i haven't really had time to post anything on this here blog. however, in the last couple days when i do have some free time i have been making some hair accessories for my photography. my neighbor also thinks i should sell them at a local craft fair but i'm not sure i'm sold. everything has to be $3 and under so we'll see.
i cover the alligator clips with ribbon to make it look a little nicer and to be softer on the soft baby heads:
here is the out-of-control flower mess:i am doing good and keeping it all in the box when i'm not using it FYI.
some completed flower clippies:

here are some cute crocheted headbands that you can put the clippies on. they are interchangeable. i love seeing these headbands with a HUGE flower on a little baby. seriously
and these crocheted hats...AMAZING. i love them. they too are interchangeable. i think i might weave some ribbon through the bottom part. these are newborn sizes but i think i'll go ahead and order several bigger sizes too.
and some more completed clippies.

tomorrow i will be buying a large amount of tulle to make a few newborn/toddler tutus. i am a little obsessed with photography props especially when i can do a craft to make them!

and last but not least my friend abby had a baby last friday...unfortunately i won't be able to practice any of my new hats or anything b/c she had a boy. his name is daniel and he is CUTE. they discovered a hole in his little lungs so he was in an incubator this weekend but today when i visited he was still in the nursery but in a crib with a heart monitor. hopefully they get to go home tomorrow!
